Does a straight path sound boring to you? Safe, secure, helpful, easy - it is all those things, but a straight path doesn't sound exciting or sexy. Yet that is what I am striving for in my life. . .
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight - Proverbs chapter 3 verses 5&6But the amazing thing about the path God continues to lay out for me as I seek to "trust and acknowledge" is that it is a far cry from heading across Kansas straight and flat. It is up and down, back and forth, and the waves are such that you can never see what is coming next, but at times God takes me to the crest of an undulation - and I can see a glimpse of my path in the future - and I can "trust and acknowledge" a bit more.
My dad has been sending out a weekly recount of the path God has taken him on over the years (http://ipwg.blogspot.com/) and while I'm temped to already to look back on my life, at this point I'm planning on chronicling bits and pieces of the current straightening process in my life. And to start with, my trip to Israel Nov 5-20.
My undulating journey is being directed, guided and illumined by the God who loves me, and I have the privilege of walking on this path with Jesus and surrounded by all the wonderful people God has put in my life.
Dirk
PS. And it is just fun to use the word undulating - when else will it get used...
